Why don't the people on the side without Nightfall notice that all communications are dead with the Nightfall side, and why don't they do anything to help? Not just during the Nightfall, but some time in the next 2049 years during which that one side of the planet rebuilds their society? No one from the other side ever travels there in 2049 years? It just makes no sense to me. They've got a relatively advanced civilization with cars and stuff. So there's a whole half of the planet where there's a particularly pleasant day going on during Nightfall. Alright, but what about the other side of the planet? It has to be a five-sun day there, hasn't it? I don't see any escaping that. In the story, darkness occurs because there is a one-sun day at the same time as an eclipse, and people go mad and destroy the cities with fire. Either I missed some detail somewhere in the book, or the premise has a huge hole in it.
